Brutal schedule for L&D Amsterdam Pirates, Holland Series pushed back

After two weekends, L&D Amsterdam Pirates will resume playing coming Thursday, September 24, a normal scheduled game of the Top four competition. After the upcoming weekend, the club will have a brutal schedule coming up to make up the games that could not be played as the club was hit by the coronavirus.

Starting coming Thursday, the schedule of L&D Amsterdam Pirates will look like this:

Thursday, September 24
Hoofddorp Pioniers @ L&D Amsterdam Pirates

Saturday, September 26
L&D Amsterdam Pirates @ Hoofddorp Pioniers

Sunday, September 27
Hoofddorp Pioniers @ L&D Amsterdam Pirates

Tuesday, September 29
Curaçao Neptunus @ L&D Amsterdam Pirates

Thursday, October 1
HCAW @ L&D Amsterdam Pirates

Saturday, October 3
L&D Amsterdam Pirates @ HCAW

Sunday, October 4
HCAW @ L&D Amsterdam Pirates

Tuesday, October 6
L&D Amsterdam Pirates @ Curaçao Neptunus

This means that Pirates will have to play eight games in thirteen days. One can only wonder if the pitching staf will be able to endure this.

Originally, the Holland Series was scheduled to start on Thursday, October 1 but due to the many make up games, the KNBSB was forced to push it back to Saturday, October 10.

The schedule for the Holland Series now is:

Saturday, October 10:
nr 2 top 4 @ nr. 1 top 4

Sunday, October 11:
nr. 1 top 4 @ nr. 2 top 4

Thursday, October 15:
nr. 2 top 4 @ nr. 1 top 4

Saturday, October 17:
nr. 1 top 4 @ nr. 2 top 4

Sunday, October 18:
nr. 2 top 4 @ nr. 1 top 4

Saturday, October 24:
nr. 1 top 4 @ nr. 2 top 4

Sunday, October 25:
nr. 2 top 4 @ nr. 1 top 4

With Neptunus’ dominance during the season and the club in the lead of the Top four competition with two games less played than Hoofddorp Pioniers, the Rotterdam based team has the best credentials to make it to the Holland Series. Who will be the opponent is sill up in the air. Normally one would say that L&D Amsterdam Pirates will be the opponent but it remains to be seen if the pitching staff will hold out during the make up games.
