Ozhaino Albies promoted to Gwinnett

With the numbers that he put up with the Mississippi Braves at AA, it could not take long before Ozhaino Albies would get a promotion to AAA.

Well, today this happened. Several posts on his Facebook page congratulated with his promotion to Gwinnett.

Even though his player page at milb.com doesn’t show it yet, his name is mentioned on the roster of the Gwinnett Braves and it disappeared from the roster of the M-Braves.

All kind of Braves fan pages on Facebook are talking about it. One says that according to Ozzie’s agent, the kid is moved up to AAA.

Just to show what a magnificent player Ozhaino is:

In his last ten games he hit a whopping .429 (who says that baseball is a sport of failure?) raising his average to a more than respectable .369, with an on base percentage of .442 and a slugging percentage of .512. His OPS stands at .952.

Ozhaino started with the Braves at the GCL Braves in 2014, before he was promoted to Danville in the rookie Appalachian League, where he became the best hitting young player (.356).
In 2015 he spent the season with the Rome Braves, where he hit .310.

With the numbers that he has put up in the past few years, it would not have come to a surprise to any of you that he was invited to the Futures All Star Game in 2015.

With this move to Gwinnett, Atlanta is literally around the corner.

The other big talented shortstop in the Braves’ organization, Dansby Swanson, was also bumped to a higher level. He played with the Carolina Mudcats and was promoted to the M-Braves. When asked if he had some influence on the promotion, Braves Manager Freddy Gonzalez said: “If I had, they would have been here with Opening Day.”
The team is at an MLB worst  5-18. Apparently the Braves are sending a signal to their MLB roster players, that they won’t shy away from calling up prospects if the team keeps playing like this.
