Arrows Ostrava 2 – 22 L&D Amsterdam Pirates
Once again L&D Amsterdam Pirates needed only five innings to finish the game.
This time Arrows Ostrava was the victim of an ill-equipped pitching staff and an unleashed Pirates’ offense.
For two and a half innings, Arrows Ostrava was capable to keep pace with the club from Amsterdam but then in the bottom of the third inning hell broke loose. A two-run home run, a solo shot, and a grand slam alone added seven runs to Pirates’ total next to the three RBI-singles.
In the fourth inning, Pirates rehashed the whole thing again as it scored nine more times.
All that Arrows Ostrava was capable off was a run in the second and one in the third.
Jim Ploeger pitched a five-inning complete game in which he gave up two runs on two hits and two walks and struck out four. Marko Vykoukal took the loss after 2.1 innings and five runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks. Vykoukal also struck out two.
