Ogden Raptors / Misja Harcksen clinch play off spot

Last night, the Ogden Raptors faced the Grand Junction Rockies in the third game of a four game series. The previous two games were won by the Raptors, one with a clear 6-2 vicory, the second with a rather close score of 12-10.

The Ogden Raptors celebrate the clinching of a play off spot

Yesterday’s game was even more close. The Rockies needed to win the game to keep a chance of clinching a play off spot. If they would win, they would only trail Ogden by half a game and then the game of today should be won for the lead in the standings and to clinch a play off spot.

Once again it was a close game in Grand Junction. The Rockies took a 3-1 lead in the first inning, but the Raptors cut the lead in half as they scored a run in the second. The Rockies on their turn would bounce back as they scored three runs in the third inning.
A six run top of the fourth, partially due to a two run homerun by Cofy Thomas, gave the Raptors an 8-4 lead. But once again the Rockies bounced back as they scored six in the fourth inning as well. A one run fifth, a one run seventh and a two run eighth tied the game at twelve halfway the eighth inning. But once again the Rockies took the lead when Taylor Snyder homered to right field on a line drive.

But eventually, the Raptors tied the game in dramatic fashion when Brandon Montgomery homered to left center field. The Rockies did not score in the bottom of the ninth, so extra innings were needed.

After Ogden’s Moises Perez doubled to center field, he scored on Keibert Ruiz’ ground ball single to center field, to give Ogden the one run lead.

With a couple of hickups, Vinnie Santasiero recorded three outs for the save.

The head of this blog post says Raptors and Misja Harcksen clinch play off spot. Yes, Misja

Misja Harcksen

Harcksen had his part in this game. After his last outing on August 29, Misja did not gat any playing time. But last night, manager Shaun Larkin decided to bring him in the fifth inning. Misja recorded two outs, allowed a hit and struck out one before he was replaced by Jorge Gonzalez.

Anyhow, this was the missing part in the blog post about Dutchies in the Minor League play offs.

The Ogden Raptors will face the Grand Junction Rockies tonight for the final game of the regular season. Friday the play offs will start. The Raptors will face the winners of the first half of the Pioneer League season, the Orem Owlz, in a best of three series for a spot in the Pioneer League’s championship series.
