Loek van Mil makes ABL All Star Game

33-year old Dutchie, Loek van Mil, has been selected for the World All-Stars roster for the 2017 ABL All-Star Game. The World All-Stars will take on team Australia in this year’s friendly of the Australian Baseball League.

This season is Van Mil’s third season in the ABL. In the previous two seasons, also with the Adelaide Bite, Van Mil posted a combined ERA of 1.45. Last season, Van Mil allowed only one run as he posted a microscopic ERA of 0.40.

This season, Van Mil appeared in six games so far and gave up four runs (three earned) which led to an ERA of 3.00. Nevertheless, Loek posted a WHIP of 0.89. Despite his efforts, the Adelaide Bite do not have a good season so far as they are dead last in the standings with a 4-16 record and a 3-7 losing streak.

His selection for the 2017 All-Star Game is Loek’s second in a row as he joined the World All-Stars in the previous season as well. Van Mil is one of only three Adelaide Bite players on the 2017 All-Star rosters.

Loek is not the only European that has been selected for the ABL All-Star Game. German National team player Donald Lutz has been selected as well. The American born German has been selected for the first time. Even though his batting average isn’t very special (.250), he is leading the league with three others in home runs (six).
The tall German has a .354 OBP and a .661 slugging percentage.

The 2017-2018 season is Lutz’ fourth in the Australian Baseball League.
