Today was the last day of the regular competition in the ABL. Only two games were played. The Perth Heat fell to the Canberra Cavalry 4-5 and the Brisbane Bandits beat Geelong-Korea 4-3.
With these results, the following playoff schedule will be effective:
The Canberra Cavalry will face the Melbourne Aces in the wild-card game on January 23rd.
The winner of the wild-card game will face the Brisbane Bandits in the semifinals, a best-of-three series from January 25-27.
The Sydney Blue Sox, who spoiled a comfortable lead in the past two weeks, will face the Perth Heat in the other best-of-three semifinal, also on January 25-27.
The winners of the semifinals will face each other in the ABL championship series, a best-of-three series played on February 1st – February 3rd.
Quite some (former) players of the Dutch hoofdklasse will head to the playoffs with their teams: Justin Erasmus and Loek van Mil (Brisbane Bandits), Dushan Ruzich (Melbourne Aces), Dwayne Kemp and Shogo Nakasihima (Sydney Blue Sox) and Sam Kennelly (Perth Heat).
