De Caster wins batting title in Nicaragua

Yurendell de Caster from Curacao has won the batting title of the Nicaraguan Professional Baseball League (LBPN).
This season was the second stint of De Caster in Nicaragua. The first time was in 2013 when he won the triple crown.

This season the 35-year old player won the batting title with a batting average of .368 and with that he became only the second player in the league who won the batting crown twice.


His team, Gigantes de Rivas won the regular competition which earned them a spot in the championship series. They will face runner up Tigres de Chinandega or Indios del Bóer. Both teams are playing for the other spot in the championship series in a best of five series. Both teams won two games so far.
