On their website, French Division One club Rouen Huskies announced the signing of former Dutch hoofdklasse player Jarreau Martina. This comes as a surprise, as it was intended he would play for Brasschaat Braves of the Belgian Division One.

According to several persons of the Brasschaat Braves, Jarreau couldn’t join the club after all due to private reasons.
The bigger is the surprise he signed with Rouen, the city in northern France, located at the banks of the Seine River, about 136 kilometers northeast of Paris.
In the past season, Martina returned to the Oosterhout Twins after spending a season with Curaçao Neptunus in 2021. Martina opted to leave Twins so the team from Oosterhout acquired Axel Poesmans from Brasschaat Braves. To fill the void at Brasschaat, the Braves had approached Martina and agreed on a contract for the 2023 season. But as written above, things went differently.
With Oosterhout Twins, Martina hit below the Mendoza line in 2022. On the defensive side, he wasn’t too shabby with a fielding percentage of .963.
Today, Martina debuted against and in Montigny Le Bretonneux. Rouen won both games (2-1 and 7-1). Since the stats of those games are not available yet it is not clear how Martina performed. But someone took a photo of him during an at-bat.
The Huskies had, as they explained in the article on their website, a lackluster start of the season: five wins and three losses. With this 5-3 record after four rounds, the Huskies did not have the patience to see how the season was about to develop. Reasons for the club to send away one hired gun. Another player got a better pay in his home country, Venezuela, something Rouen could not match. As a result, the Huskies spent more money to hire a Canadian pitcher and Jarreau Martina.
Jarreau stated that he wants to show his face on Dutch diamonds one more time, as he will play at the European Champions Cup in the Netherlands with Rouen. But after the 2023 season, he will hang up his spikes.
