Holland Series 2017: Neptunus one win away from clinching championship
In a very close game, Curaçao Neptunus stayed at the right side of the score and is one win away from clinching its eighteenth Dutch championship.
Tonight’s game must have been a bitter loss for Rob Cordemans as he pitched a complete game. In a stellar outing, he allowed two earned runs and struck out ten. Despite the strong outing he had to take the loss as Pirates fell to Neptunus 3-2.
After three scoreless innings, Neptunus scored two runs on a single up the middle hit by 
Shaldimar Daantji. Benjamin Dille got on base on a double, Dwayne Kemp reached first on a throwing error by shortstop Zerzinho Croes and advanced to second on the error to give Neptunus runners in scoring position. Both runners scored on Daantji’s single.
Neptunus even took a 3-0 lead when Dwayne Kemp homered down the right-field line in the sixth inning. But L&D Amsterdam Pirates got on the board in the bottom of the same inning. Zerzinho Croes led off with a double down the left field line and advanced to third on Kalian Sams’ flyout to right field. Croes scored on Kenny Berkenbosch’ single to third base.
One inning later, Pirates inched closer. Pirates loaded the bases and Nick Urbanus drove in the second run for Pirates on a sac fly to center field.
In the eighth inning, Pirates had runners in scoring position but Loek van Mil struck out Max Clarijs for the final out of the inning.
In the ninth inning, Loek van Mil retired the side for the save. The win went to Diegomar Markwell, who pitched 6.1 innings in which he gave up two runs on three hits and five walks. and struck out two. Rob Cordemans took the loss despite pitching a complete 
game. Cordemans allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk.
Best hitter for Curaçao Neptunus was Benjamin Dille, who got two of the four hits Neptunus collected as he went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored.
Thanks to this win Neptunus takes a 3-1 lead in the Holland Series and is a win away to clinch another Dutch championship.
