U15 European Championship 2017: The Netherlands finishes on top of its group

Once again the opponent took a lead in the first few innings of the game, but also this time, the Dutch rallied for the lead and eventually the win. After the Czech Republic had taken a 4-1 lead, the Dutch walked off as a victory as they beat the Czechs 11-6.

The Czechs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Pavel Parizek grounded into a double play on which Lukas Maly could score the opening run. The Dutch tied the game in the bottom of the first. Raydley Legito scored from third base on a wild pitch by Jan Sobotka. But in the next two innings, the Czech Republic seemed to walk away as they scored three runs.
But in the bottom of the third inning, the Netherlands rallied for the lead. Three consecutive walks loaded the bases before Jesse Velders hit a sac fly to drive in Emile Haswell from third. Luuk Bun followed with a single to shortstop to drive in Chris Stuart. Lucas Vos drew a walk to drive in Ayran Araya Lemaire to tie the game. Luuk Bun and Luca Pastor scored on Raydley Legito’s single down the left field line. Lucas Vos scored the final run of the third inning on Tyriq Kemp’s sac fly.

In the next three innings, the Dutch pitching kept the Czechs from scoring.
Lucas de Vos gave up only a hit and a walk. But in the seventh inning, De Vos couldn’t get out of the inning and gave up two runs (one earned). With two outs, De Vos was replaced by Danny Albinus, who managed to record the final out.

Despite giving up four runs (two earned), Lucas de Vos earned the win. He gave up five hits, walked four and struck out two.

Best hitter for the Netherlands was Raydley Legito, who went 2 for 3 with two RBI, a walk and two runs scored.

Hitting results of the Netherlands:

Tyriq Kemp: 1 for 2 with a RBI, a walk and a run scored.
Chris Stuart: 1 for 2 with a RBI, a walk and two runs scored.
Ayran Araya Lemaire: 1 for 3 with a run scored and a walk.
Luuk Bun: 1 for 3 with a RBI, a run scored and a walk.

With this win, the Netherlands finishes on top of group A and will face the runner up of group B (the winner of the game between Germany and Italy) tomorrow to battle for a spot in the final.
