Just like competitor and arch rival L&D Amsterdam Pirates, Curaçao Neptunus did not get a lot of new players. Only four left the club of which two will remain as member but will return to the USA to continue with their professional career.
The players that left the club are Julian Goins, who left for HCAW and Coco Johnson, who hung up his spikes.
The team of manager Ronald Jaarsma added the following players:
RHP Kevin Bakker, who comes from Neptunus’ farm team Tridents.
RHP Lex Meinderts, who has left overgangsklasse club Euro Stars.
Not much can be said about the aforementioned pitchers as the KNBSB doesn’t keep stats of leagues lower than the Dutch hoofdklasse.
Another new addition to the roster is infielder Tijmen Takke, who is coming from Quick Amersfoort. Tijmen can play both first base and second base. Since he is playing college ball in the USA, he will return to Neptunus in May 2021. According to manager Jaarsma, Tijmen will play first base or outfield, just where he is needing him.
Another player that has left Quick Amersfoort is former MLB player Roger Bernadina. It must be said that for a player of his caliber, his 2020 batting average (.286) was somewhat disappointing. There is a chance that Roger will go play professionally abroad so it remains to be seen if he will stay with the club.
With these transactions, also the core of Curaçao Neptunus remains in tact which makes them a contender once again.
