Player banned permanently for PED use

After being suspended two times before because of use of PEDs, Jenrry Mejia is suspended for life by MLB.

His previous suspension was on July 28,2015 as he failed a second test on Stanozolol and Boldenone Jenrry Mejia Reinstated from Restricted List, Logan Verrett Optioned to Triple-Ause, the PED that Canadian sprintaer Ben Johnson was caught with during the Olympic Games in Seoul. MLB suspended him for 162 games.

On April 11 2015 after he was caught for the use of Stanozolol, he received a 60 game suspension.

Today it was announced that Mejia was banned for life after his third PED violation.

Mejia broke into the majors on April 7 2010 in a relief appearance, making him the youngest player since Dwight Gooden, to make his debut with the Mets. Later that year he made his first MLB start at Wrigley Field.

Mejia had an injury riddled career as he had stints on the DL (both in the minors and the majors) in 2009, 2011, 2012 (season ending TJ surgery) and 2015.

The Mets stated the following on Mejia’s suspension: “We were deeply disappointed to hear that Jenrry has again violated Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. We fully support MLB’s policy toward eliminating performance enhancing substances from the sport. As per the Joint Drug Program, we will have no further comment on this suspension.”

Mejia is the first MLB player that is banned for life due to PED use.

A personal note: I don’t like cheaters, but if you want to cheat, do it in a way that nobody will notice. Stanozolol is rather easy to detect. 😉
