Van Mil earns second save in ABL

www.theabl.com.auThe Adelaide Bite did some good business today as they won both games of a double header vs the Sydney Blue Sox.

Game one was won with a slim margin of one run: 4-3.

In the second game, the Blue Sox and the Bite scored a lot of runs in the first ininng. Sydney took off, scoring four but Adelaide answered by scoring five. In the third inning, Adelaide extended their lead to 8-4 but the Blue Sox inched closer in the next inning as they scored two. In the fifth inning the Sox scored two more runs to tie the game at eight.

But Adelaide answered immediately by scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth. Eventually in the sixth inning the Bite took advantage of the lack of control by Grant Piccoli, who gave up four runs on four hits and a walk.

But the game was far from over as the Sydney Blue Sox caught fire in the top of the eighth inning. A three run homeruns given up by Matthew Williams brought back the Blue Sox within two runs of the Bite.

Van Mil winds up for his first pitch of his second save

That was the point where Loek van Mil was called to take the mound. With one out, Van Mil retired the next two hitters (striking out Michael Quesada and a fly out to center field by Tyler Botnick) for his second save in as many days.
