Dutchies in Minor League Baseball, Saturday April 18

AAA

For the first time this season, Roger Bernadina reached .200 for a batting average. In yesterday’s game he went 2 for 5 with a double, a walk, two strikeouts and two runs scored. The Isotopes won the game in Reno 9-4.

AA

In the Texas League the Frisco RoughRIders fell to the Arkansas Travelers 4-2. Christopher Garia entered the game in the sixth inning as a defensive substitution in center field. He got one at bat in which he popped out towards third base.

A Advanced

The San Jose Giants fell 3-0 to the Bakersfield Blaze. John Polionius went 0 for 3 with a strikeout. But he was the center piece of a 6-4-3 double play.

The Potomac Nationals prevailed over the Lynchburg HillCats in a high scoring game: 15-8. Spencer Kieboom went 1 for 2 with a double,  a walk, an RBI, a run scored and a sac fly. He also allowed a stolen base.

The Daytona Tortugas beat the Tampa Yankees easily: 9-1. Dutch second baseman Carlton Daal went 2 for 4 with a run scored and a strikeout. On the defensive side he was the center piece of a 6-4-3 double play.

A Full Season

The Hagerstown Suns beat Jiandido Tromp‘s Lakewood BlueClaws 5-4. Jiandido got one basehit out of four at bats and struck out once.

In the Midwest League, the Beloit Snappers beat the Clinton LumberKings. Shawn Duinkerk went 0 for 3 for the Snappers with a walk, a strikeout and a run scored. Gianfranco Wawoe hit a single in the bottom of the second towards Duinkerk. Wawoe stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball after Adam Martin drew a walk. When Estarlyn Morales drove in Gianfranco from third on a single towards Shawn Duinkerk, Adam Martin tried to get to third but was thrown out on the outfield assist by Shawn Duinkerk. Gianfranco Wawoe went 2 for 4.

The Peoria Chiefs flexed their muscles and beat the Wisconsin TimberRattlers 15-4, thanks to two doubles and two triples (one by Darren Seferina). Darren went 1 for 4 with two runs batted in, two runs scored, a walk and a strikout.

Sicnarf Loopstok didn’t have his day apparently. At bat he went 1 for 4 with a strikeout. Behind the plate he allowed the Bowling Green HotRods to steal four bases. The Lake County Captains lost 4-3.
