In the run-up to the 2022 Dutch hoofdklasse season, Dutch champion L&D Amsterdam Pirates would participate in a “preparation” tournament for the upcoming European Champions Cup in Bonn, on the weekend of March 26 and 27. But due to the strict COVID rules the German government is still practicing, Pirates has decided not to participate in the tourney in Bonn.

The tournament in Bonn would contain the Bonn Capitals, Curaçao Neptunus, T&A San Marino, Parmaclima, and L&D Amsterdam Pirates. But since Germany is still practicing the 2G policy regarding COVID-19, L&D Amsterdam Pirates has decided to pull back.
Instead of playing in Bonn, the Dutch champion will now participate in the Johan Veraghtert Tournament, hosted by the Borgerhout Squirrels in Antwerp, Belgium. Orginally, the tournament would contain three Belgian clubs (Borgerhout Squirrels, Brasschaat Braves, and Deurne Spartans) and one Dutch club (Oosterhout Twins), but now the Squirrels have made room for L&D Amsterdam Pirates as well.
The Johan Veraghtert Tournament will take place on the same weekend as the tournament in Bonn is played.

The tournament will be played at the facilities of the Borgerhout Squirrels and neighboring Deurne Spartans.
