KNBSB

On the third day of the first playoff round, L&D Amsterdam Pirates beat home team Hoofddorp Pioniers but by no means it was an easy win like yesterday’s one. Curaçao Neptunus hosted HCAW and clinched an easy victory.

L&D Amsterdam Pirates  4  –  1  Hoofddorp Pioniers
Luuk ter Beek, who debuted in the hoofdklasse a few weeks as reliever, made his debut Gerelateerde afbeeldingas a starting pitcher. In the first three innings, Luuk kept Pirates from scoring but in the fourth he gave up two runs before he recorded the first out. Gilmer Lampe singled up the middle and scored on Kenny Berkenbosch’ double down the left field line. Berkenbosch on his turn, scored on Danny Rombley’s single to left center field. Only then, Patrick Bok flied out for the first out of the inning. Danny Rombley eventually scored from third on the 4-3 groundout hit by Jesse Aussems. Then Luuk was replaced by Dion Steijl, who recorded the final out of the inning. In the top of the fifth inning, Nick Urbanus doubled to right field and scored on the single to right center field, hit by Kenny Berkenbosch.

HCAW  2  –  8  Curaçao Neptunus
Unlike yesterday’s game, Curaçao Neptunus did not have to go deep. Until the sixth inning, HCAW could keep pace rather well, but a six run sixth inning sealed HCAW’s fate. Both starting pitchers kept the opponent in check pretty well. When HCAW took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, Neptunus bounced back right away and tied the game in the same frame.  Boyd Tuhumry hit a leadoff double down the left field line and advanced to third on Delano Selassa’s single to left center field and scored the opening run for HCAW on Dylan Koster’s sac fly to right field.
In the bottom of the third inning, Gregory Muller also doubled down the left field line and scored on Jochem Koedijk’s single to right center field.
An offensive outburst in the sixth inning drove in six runs for Neptunus. Afbeeldingsresultaat voor Curacao Neptunus
