2023 Belgian Division One: Saturday July 15, Matches of The Day
Today, yours truly headed to Brasschaat to attend the game between the hosting Braves and the visiting Namur Angels. In both games, Brasschaat stayed at the right side of the score.

Namur Angels 3 – 12 Brasschaat Braves
In game one, the Namur Angels took a 2-0 lead. Starting pitcher Hunter Cooper gave up some bloop singles and some dribblers that helped the one-time Belgian champion, to take the lead. But in the bottom of the fourth, the Braves tied the game on two sac flies. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Brasschaat took the lead thanks to an RBI single by Yves Poesmans. But in the top of the seventh inning, the Angels tied the game when Alexandre Mathot singled home Steve Jordens from third. But in the bottom of the same inning, Brasschaat regained the lead on an RBI single by Jamie Verheyleweghen and an RBI double by Hunter Cooper.
Eventually in the bottom of the seventh, the Braves sealed the fate of the Angels when they scored seven runs. Thanks to this inning, the final score was rather flattering because the Angels stayed in the game rather long and the score may indicate that the Braves were much stronger.
Jackson Longhofer pitched 2.1 perfect innings in relief for the win. He struck out three. Lucas Heymans pitched a complete game but took the loss nevertheless. In eight innings, he allowed twelve runs on seventeen hits and two walks.
The best hitter for the Brasschaat Braves was Hunter Cooper, who went 4 for 5 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Namur Angels 2 – 5 Brasschaat Braves
Also game two was a close affair. After three innings the game was tied at two. Only in the eighth inning, the pitching of the Angels collapsed and thanks to a defensive miscue, a single and a three run home run by Robin Roevens, who helped his own cause, the Braves took a three run lead and never looked back.
Robin Roevens pitched a complete game in which he gave up two runs on nine hits and struck out seven, for the win. Reliever Arthur Heymans took the loss. He lasted three innings in which he allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits as he struck out two.
The best hitter for the Braves was Robin Roevens, who went 2 for 4 with a three run home run.
