Oosterhout Twins – L&D Amsterdam Pirates Canceled

Curaçao Neptunus 1 – 0 HCAWIt was one of those classic pitching duels in which one pitcher was not inferior to the other. Beside that, it was a very quick game as well: two hours and eighteen minutes.
Misja Harcksen was a tad more efficient than his opponent, Lars Huijer. Harcksen allowed only two hits in seven innings, walked three and struck out three. Huijer lasted eight innings in which he allowed one unearned run on five hits and two walks and struck out three.
In this low scoring game, both teams combined for nine hits, Neptunus six, HCAW three.
Even though Neptunus had runners in scoring position three times, the team scored only once. That run came in the fifth inning when Dudley Leonora led off with a double down the left field line. An error by the second baseman allowed Leonora to advance to third base from where he scored the opening run on Dashenko Ricardo’s single to right-center field.
Also HCAW had runner in scoring position thrice but the team failed to cash in due to the strong performance of Misja Harcksen and later Kevin Kelly in relief.
Misja Harcksen earned the win, Kevin Kelly, who allowed just one hit and two walks and struck out one, in two innings of relief, earned the save. Despite his strong outing in eight innings, Lars Huijer was tabbed with the loss.
Dudley Leonora was the best hitter for Neptunus as he went 2 for 4 with two doubles and a run scored.
