According to a tweet by Didier Seminet, the French chairman of the WBSC Europe, the French minister of Sports Roxana Mărăcineanu had a talk with MLB to lure MLB games to France. Location of the games would be Stade de France in Saint Denis, North of Paris.
The talks between Roxana Mărăcineanu and MLB are in an early stage. Part of the French delegation was WBSC Europe chairman Didier Seminet.
Roxana Mărăcineanu was born in Romania and came to France in 1984. In 1998 she became world champion in swimming (backstroke).
It is not known how many people in France have a subscription to MLB TV, but with 63 million inhabitants, France could be an attractive market for MLB. If it can compete with Great Britain (one million MLB TV subscriptions on 66 million inhabitants) remains the question. In France there are about 13,500 active players (over 22,000 in Great Britain).
