Rob Cordemans close to some mile stones
Rob Cordemans, the veteran in the rotation of L&D Amsterdam Pirates is about to reach two milestones in the coming weeks. First of all, he can reach 2,000 strikeouts next Thursday. His second accomplishment may take a bit longer but will likely be reached later this season: 200 wins.

Last season, Cordemans broke the career strikeout record by beating Bart Volkerijk’s 1,948 Ks. Cordemans is playing in the Dutch hoofdklasse since 1994 and recorded 127 Ks in 2008 and 2011. Coming Thursday, he can reach the magical 2,000 Ks, something that is not even a common thing in the Major Leagues. Of all MLB pitchers that played the game through the ages, only 82 have 2,000 strikeouts or more. Of course, Nolan Ryan has the most as he recorded a whopping 5,714 Ks. Cordemans is only seven strikeouts away from reaching the 2,000 mark.
But Cordemans may set another record this season. So far, his number of wins stands at 194. Since 2012, Cordemans is the lone record holder in career wins. In that season he also surpassed Bart Volkerijk, who held the record with 150 victories in the Dutch hoofdklasse.
Cordebaas, like Cordemans is also called, has played for several hoofdklasse teams: He started his hoofdklasse career with Neptunus from Rotterdam (1994-2005), then moved to ADO from The Hague (2006-2007. Next stop was Sparta/Feyenoord (2008-2009) and since 2010, Cordemans is on the roster of L&D Amsterdam Pirates. In the meantime, Cordemans also pitched for the Uni-President Lions of the Taiwanese CPBL. He impressed with a tryout but was released early in the season on May 28, 2007, as he posted a 3-4 record with a 4.50 ERA.
The game in which Cordemans can reach the 2,000 strikeouts will be played at Sportpark Ookmeer in Amsterdam. HCAW from Bussum will be the opponent. The game will commence at 19:30 (7:30 PM).
