Wladimir Balentien placed on inactive list
According to a tweet by American baseball journalist in Japan, Jim Allen, the Yakult Swallows have placed Curaçaoan outfielder Wladimir Balentien on the inactive list as they worry about the condition of his upper body.
Balentien is hitting considerably better than the past four years, when he never topped. 270. So far this season, he is hitting .286 with five doubles and eight home runs.
According to Jim Allen, Balentiens seems to be bothered by inflammation in his ribs or his arms. Since there is no disabled list in the NPB, players are inactivated. With a 70-man roster that includes all NPB players and minor leaguers, the NPB clubs can make unlimited moves during the season.
For now, Balentien will be deactivated for at least ten days.
