Dutch Hoofdklasse – 2015 Holland Series: Neptunus can bring out the brooms tomorrow

In game three of the Holland Series, it looked like it would be a seven inning mercy rule finish, early in the game as Curacao Neptunus had a 7-0 lead after two innings.
With Nick Veltkamp on the mound for Kinheim, as Tom Stuifbergen was still serving a three game suspension, Neptunus took a 2-0 lead in the first when Raily Legito homered with Benjamin Dille on first base.
In the next inning six singles, a walk and a fly out put five more runs on the score board for the Rotterdam based team. By that time Nick Veltkamp was replaced by David Bergman already.

For the next 3.5 innnings not really much happened until Corendon Kinheim suddenly caught fire.
Kalian Sams, just returned from his adventure with the Quebec Capitales, led off the inning with a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth. The next hitter, Dashenko Ricardo, reached first base on a fielding error by Raily Legito, followed by a walk drawn by Jeffrey Arends. When Philip Ortez singled down the right field line, Dashenko Ricardo touched home plate for Kinheim’s second run. A throwing error by Diegomar Markwell, next to some singles led to three more runs for Kinheim in the sixth.

After the sixth inning, the run production for Kinheim stalled for the biggest part, but they managed to score one more run in the bottom of the ninth. Neptunus on their turn stepped on it in the top of the ninth and touched home plate four more times thanks to three errors and a wild pitch by Arshwin Asjes.

Despite not being as dominant as last Saturday,Diegomar Markwell earned the win, allowing five runs (two earned) on five hits. He gave up three walks and struck out six. Nick Veltkamp lasted only 1.1 innings in which he gave up seven runs on nine hits. He rang up two and walked one.
Loek van Mil, also just back from the other side of the Atlantic after a short stint with the Rochester RedWings, pitched 1.2 innings for the save. He gave up one run on three hits and struck out two.

Best hitter for Neptunus was Christian Diaz, who went 4 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Most impact though had Raily Legito who drove in three runs on just one basehit in five at bats.
Mervin Gario went 3 for 4 for Kinheim with a double and an RBI.

As the title of the article says, Curacao Neptunus can clinch their 16th title tomorrow and have a threepeat with a sweep of Corendon Kinheim.
