Curcacaoan slugger, Wladimir Balentien has returned to the Yakult Swallows after a long injury that he sustained since the start of the season. Earlier this week, Balentien played his only rehab game with the Swallows’ Ni-Gun (minor league) team in which he went 0 for 2 with two walks.
Since the Swallows are in the midst of a play off race with the Hanshin Tigers and the Yomiuri Giants, they can use the slugger very well.
In his first game that the Swallows lost 6-3 to the Yomiuri Giants, Balentien went deep in the bottom of the sixth inning and took a runner with him to bring back the Swallows within three runs of the Giants.
Earlier in the game Wladimir hit a single to center field. In four at bats he collected two hits.
Wladimier is the current season homerun record holder with 60 homeruns. In 2013 he surpassed the 55 dingers that legend Sadaharu Oh hit in 1964.
The Yakult Swallows are currently leading the Central League by a game over Hanshin and two games over Yomiuri. If the Swallows will clinch a play off spot, it will be the first time since 2009.
