Summing up the Dutchies per MLB organization: Milwaukee Brewers

Another shorty in the series “Summing up the Dutchies per MLB organization”. This time I will write about:

            Number of Dutchies: 1

Milan Post:
Dutch born Milan Post signed a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers in January 2014. Born in Diemen a community Southeast of Amsterdam, he played at the local baseball club TIW-Survivors and later he debuted in the Dutch Hoofdklasse with L&D Amsterdam Pirates. But at the age of sixteen, the now 21-year old, was diagnosed with rheumatism. For a year he wasn’t able to play baseball. Eventually he recovered and participated in several European Baseball Academies (powered by MLB). Eventually he was approached by scouts of the San Francisco Giants. They adviced Milan to focus on college baseball first. This resulted in a scholarship for the San Jacinto College in Houston. But when the Milwaukee Brewers made him an offer, he decided to accept it. Eventually he could play his first game with the AZL Brewers in the Arizona League June 20 2014. In his first year as a professional ball player he posted the following numbers. In 23 games and 66 at bats he collected seven hits (.106) with an OBP of .253. In 22 games as a catcher committed 5 errors and threw out 6 of 34 potential base stealers.
His promotion to the Helena Brewers (Advanced Rookie Pioneer League) may have come as surprise. So far his numbers are not to write home about, but they have improved compared to last year. So far he is hitting .183 (thanks to yesterday’s game vs the Idaho Falls Chuckars, in which he collected two hits out of four at bats) with an OBP of .176. In 29 games behind the plate he committed four errors and threw out twenty of fifty potential base stealers.
Sure Milan’s career is still in it’s infancy but despite his so so numbers at bat, he has made some nice progression.
