Dutchies in US baseball: Another setback for Jurickson Profar
Jurrickson Profar, who was out all 2014 season due to a muscular injury, is facing another setback. He needs another surgery to his right shoulder. Last year he got injured and was scheduled to get back mid-season, but then he had a setback as well. The Rangers wanted to take it easy with him and thought rest would help Profar. He was scheduled to start the season at AAA.
It is not clear yet when he scheduled to return.
Over the past weeks, Profar build up his throwing excercises. He threw from 105 without feeling discomfort. The Rangers had MRIs taken on a regular basis to monitor the situation. The latest MRI scan showed a strain on the subscapularis muscle, which is said, though not gerally accepted, to be one of the four rotator cuff muscles.
Profar, who helped the Pabao Little League team win the 2004 Little League World Series, was signed by the Rangers in 2010. After only three full seasons in the minors, he got a cup of tea with the Rangers in 2012 when he played 9 games for the team from Arlington. In 2013 he played 85 games in which he collected 67 hits out of 286 at bats.
He is one of the many shortstops that the island of Curacao has produced in the last ten years.
