Curt Smith goes Indy again
Curt Smith, first baseman of the Dutch National team became a free agent after the 2014 season. He had spent the season with the Cardinals’ AA affiliation in Springfield MO of the Texas League.
Smith signed a deal with the independent Lincoln SaltDogs of the American Association. Smith played for the SaltDogs before. In 2011 and 2013 he was a valuable part of the team. He joined the team at the half of the 2013 season after he was released by the Minnesota Twins. He had quite an impact with a batting average of .316 and five homeruns and twenty-seven runs batted in in twenty-nine games. Over the two seasons that he played in Lincoln he hit a respectable .328 and fourteen homeruns.

Last season with the Springfield Cardinals, he hit .262 with eleven homeruns, sixteen doubles and fifty-two runs batted in.

During the 2014 European Cup, Smith joined the Dutch National team and became the best Dutch hitter with an av arage of .448 and four homeruns.
