New MiLB Ballparks in 2026: Hillsboro Hops Ballpark

Third episode in “New MiLB Ballparks in 2026.” This time we pay attention to the new ballpark of the Hillsboro Hops: Hillsboro Hops Ballpark.

On April 10, the Hillsboro Hops moved into their brand new ballpark. You may wonder why they needed to move into something new as their previous ballpark was only thirteen years old. Well, there was quite a big issue as there was no clubhouse for the visiting team, and since minor league parks need to meet MLB requirements nowadays, they had to move. But the clubhouse wasn’t the only issue. The old ballpark also lacked women’s locker rooms for female umpires and a weight room.

But when it comes to these MLB requirements, don’t expect the parent club Arizona Diamondbacks to pay a dime. The greedy MLB owners shove their demands down the throat of MiLB clubs but refuse to contribute financially. This new ballpark was mainly funded by the Hops ($82MM, mainly in bonds backed by the stadium’s future revenue) and supported by the city of Hillsboro ($18MM), Washington County ($8MM), and Explore Tualatin Valley, a local nonprofit institution that promotes tourism in the region (($2MM). The missing $15MM was “donated” by the Oregon Legislature.

With another contraction of MiLB looming, one can wonder if this new ballpark will save Minor League Baseball in Hillsboro from being cut by the greedy MLB owners. But with the ballpark meeting MLB standards, the chance of staying alive is much bigger.

But let’s go back to the ballpark. The ground breaking was in August 2024. The ballpark can be used year round as the Hillsboro Hops had a vision that goes beyond just sports. This facility is designed with every aspect of the fan experience top of mind for a best-in-market entertainment experience. Fans can look forward to a dramatically enhanced game-day experience, including a 360-degree wraparound concourse, a beer garden and a dedicated food hall with six dining options. This is where people will share experiences, make first-class memories, and gather as a community. Next to Hops baseball, there will be room for concerts, festivals, community events, and amateur baseball games.

Hillsboro Hops Ballpark is part of the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex, which includes other baseball/softball fields (including the Hops’ previous ballpark) as well as a football/soccer stadium. The new ballpark has a capacity of 7000 including 4,700 seats. There is a 360-degree wraparound concourse next to a beer garden, a dedicated food hall with six dining options, and an advanced sound and LED systems. The second level of the ballpark is home to a 9,000-square-foot club area, overlooking a shaded seating bowl.

The turf is synthetic turf, which is the first of its kind in any MiLB ballpark (according to the Hops), and the dimensions of the diamond are 325 feet down the left-field line, 400 feet to center field, and 325 feet down the right-field line.

The vast majority of the stands are covered at the new Hops stadium. So, if it rains as it always does in April and May, the elements shouldn’t be punishing when you’re in the concourse or in most seats.
