The New York Mets and Roger Bernadina have agreed on a minor league contract with an invitation for Spring Training.
The Curacao native played several years for the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals organization, debuting in the Bigs in 2008 and having his best season in 2012 when he hit .291 with five homeruns and eleven doubles.

During the 2013 season, Roger was released by the Nats but he was picked up rather quick by the Philadelphia Phillies.
In 2014 Roger signed a minor league deal with the Cincinnati Reds. His Spring Training performance was so impressive that it earned him an opening day roster spot. That Spring Training numbers do not mean a lot was proved as Roger struggled at the plate. Eventually the Reds released Roger.
The Dodgers picked him up and placed him at their AAA farm team in Albuquerque. When Roger was about to leave for Europe to participate in the 2014 European Cup with team Kingdom of the Netherlands, he received a call up and he reported at Dodger Stadium. He was mainly used as pinch hitter and pinch runner.
For the 2015 season Roger signed a minor league deal with the Colorado Rockies, who placed him at their (new) AAA affiliate Albuquerque. Roger played all season at AAA and posted a .276 batting average and hit 15 homeruns which earned him the The Power Hitter of the Year title during the 2015 Players Choice Awards of the Albuquerque Isotopes.
It is expected that Roger will start the season at the Mets’ AAA affiliate in Las Vegas, which is pretty cool because I will spend a part of my vacation there and I will be able to see him play. 🙂
