On its Instagram account, multiple Italian champions Fortitudo Bologna announced the signing of Curaçao-born Darren Seferina for the second part of the Serie A season.
Darren Seferina was born on January 24, 1994 in Willemstad. He was one of those talented players who tried his luck at American schools: Trinity Christian Academy in Deltona and at the Miami Dade College. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the fifth round of the 2014 draft. He debuted with the State College Spikes of the New York-Penn League. In his first season, he batted a decent .294. His best season, batting wise, was 2015 when he hit .295 with the Peoria Chiefs. The longer his Minor League career lasted, the more downward his numbers went. Eventually, he ended his career in the farm system of the Milwaukee Brewers. His affiliated career ended in 2018.
In 2021, Darren returned to pro-ball as he signed with the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Association. With the Canadian club, he batted a mediocre .231. In 2022 he spent his time in the highest league of Curaçao.
With UnipolSai Bologna, Darren will bolster the infield for the remainder of the season. He will join another player from the Dutch Kingdom, Aruba to be exact: Eugene Helder.
