Dutchie Named ICCAC Athlete of the Week

In their first week the Indian Hills Warriors, a Community College from Iowa, went a perfect 4-0. If that wasn’t enough, one of their players was named ICCAC Athlete of the Week.

No description available.

Sophomore catcher Dave Janssen put up some very nice numbers to earn this honor. In four games, Dave went 6 for 9 (.667) with a home run, two doubles, eight runs scored and three stolen bases. He sported an on-base-percentage of .800 and a slugging percentage of 1.222. Behind the plate, Dave is perfect so far.

The Dutch catcher from Gemert in the Netherlands is leading a pack of Indian Hills players in the batting average rankings. The top five of the ICCAC (Iowa Community College Athletic Conference) contains only players from that school.

In the Netherlands, Dave Janssen is playing for Dutch hoofdklasse club Oosterhout Twins. In the past two seasons, he filled the role of backup catcher as Twins acquired a very strong defensive and good hitting backstop in the person of Jason Halman. A bit of bad luck for him but for sure, Dave is a very reliable catcher. At bat, he is an example that catchers do not hit very well in general but his fielding percentage in the COVID-19 shortened 2020 campaign with Oosterhout Twins and with Indian Hills was perfect.
