In a memo sent by MLB to all minor league clubs that are left, it was announced that the start of AA and A Ball will be delayed in 2021 as a result of Covid-19.
The memo said that Spring Training for the aforementioned levels cannot start until after MLB and AAA players have left the Spring Training facilities.
In order to keep the required social distancing, AA and A will start their Spring Training later. As a result, their seasons will start later as well. If this will have consequences for the duration of the season is not known. Before the MLB money grab move, MiLB season mostly started on Thursdays in the same week as MLB season started and it ended early September.
With the new Minor League in place, it is not clear when the season will end and especially now with this delayed season, it is not clear whether the season will be played as a whole or if it will be cut short.
