Tonight, Dutchy Roger Bernadina will likely make his debut with the Leones de Léon of the LBPN (Liga de Beisbol Professional Nacional). For the first time since 2007, the 36-year old, will return to the league where he played for two seasons with the now defunct Fieras del San Fernando.

Since the LBPN is one of the strongest leagues in Central America, this will be a good preparation for the upcoming Dutch hoofdklasse season. Recently Bernadina left Quick Amersfoort to join Curaçao Neptunus, the multiple Dutch champion.
During his 19-year career, Bernadina was much of a journey man as he played in the USA, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Korea, Taiwan and Mexico, next to the Netherlands as well.
The team, Bernadina is joining in the LBPN, the Leones de Léon, is a six-time champion of Nicaragua winter baseball. The club won the Nicaraguan pennant in the past two seasons.
Roger, whose full name is Rogerarvin Angelo Alejandro Bernadina, will debut against Indios de Bóer, the club with the most Nicaraguan titles (eight).

The regular competition of the five-team LBPN will end on December 23rd. The championship series will be played from January 10 through January 19 in a best-of-seven format.
Remarkable fact is that all teams of the LBPN but one are located on the West Coast of Nicaragua. Only Tren del Norte is located more inland towards the Northern border of the country.
