Therwil Flyers sweeps its way to a repeat

After winning the first two games of the Swiss championship series easily last weekend, the Therwil Flyers had to go deep today. A big eighth inning did it all for the team from Therwil.

After the Bern Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Flyers overtook them as it scored twice in the bottom of the first. But the Cardinals tied the game again in the second inning on a solo home run by Ernesto Pereira Garcia.
In the fourth inning, Pereira Garcia would homer again but this time he took Johnny Perigo Mejias with him.

The fifth run for the Bern Cardinals was scored in the fifth inning when Thierry Burkhardt hit a sac fly to left field that drove in Lars Reinhard Regis.

Things did not look good for the Flyers as J. Schaller kept them in check after the first inning until the eighth and limited them to three hits. But in the eighth, the Flyers got a grip on his pitching and hit him hard. A bases loaded walk allowed the Flyers to get back to 5-3. Then Michael Kratz doubled down the right field line to drive in two runs. The go-ahead and eventually winning run was scored on a sac fly by Sven Erik Leemann.

Taka Oshima earned the win after he took over from his brother in the seventh inning. He allowed two hits, walked one and struck out four. Schaller took the loss after giving up the sixth run to the flyers.
Adrian Kauffmann was the best hitter for the Flyers as he went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored
