On the fifth and final day of the European/African Olympic Qualifier, the following games were scheduled: Israel @ South Africa, Kingdom of the Netherlands @ Italy and Spain @ Czech Republic.

The only way Israel could blow its ticket to Tokyo was by losing to South Africa. But Israel had other thoughts as the score pointed out. After a scoreless first inning, Israel scored six runs in the next two innings. On the pitching of Joseph Wagman, South Africa did not stand a chance. In seven innings, Wagman allowed one run on six hits, walked one and fanned six. That sole South African run was scored in the seventh inning when Jonathan Phillips scored on Brett Willemburg’s single to left field.
Wagman earned the win, Benjamin Wanger was the best Israeli hitter going 2 for 3 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored.

 Spain  3  –  7  Czech Republic
A surprising result. After trailing 3-0 after the top of the sixth inning, the Czech Republic inched closer in the bottom of the sixth and in the seventh to get within a run from Spain. The Spanish defense eventually collapsed in the eighth inning as Jorge Balboa gave up two bases-loaded walks and a bases-clearing double to Martin Schneider to give the Czechs a commanding 7-3 lead.
Jiri Vavrusa earned the win after pitching a perfect eighth inning in which he struck out one.
Jakub Hajtmar and Jakub Malik both went 2 for 3. Both scored once but Hajtmar drove in a run as well.

Final standings in this Olympic Qualifier:

1 Israel 4 1
2 Netherlands 4 1
3 Czech Republic 3 2
4 Spain 2 3
