Silicon Storks gets win appointed by KNBSB in playdowns
Last Saturday, the hoofdklasse playdown game between Silicon Storks and DSS was postponed after the home plate umpire was hit by a foul ball. The foul ball itself wasn’t the direct cause of the postponement, merely a nasty remark by one of the players of DSS.
After home plate umpire was hit on the hand by a foul ball, he asked home team DSS for some water. As one of their former players made a comment that he wouldn’t get some, a commotion occurred which resulted in the umpire calling the game. At that moment, in the eighth inning, Storks was leading 4-2.
Before the incident, the home plate umpire had made some calls that didn’t please DSS. As a result, things escalated when he was hit by the foul ball.
According to the KNBSB, DSS can be blamed for the premature ending of the game and therefore was appointed a regular 2-0 victory.
Thanks to this decision, Silicon Storks is leading the playdowns series by 2-1.
