Darryl Collins signs contract with Royals

After the game vs De Glaskoning Twins, Collins signed the contract under the watchful eye of Nick Leto, scout of the Kansas City Royals.

Of the forty-two regular season games in the Dutch hoofdklasse, Collins played twenty-eight of which twenty-three were starts. In those games, he hit a whopping .418 in seventy-nine at-bats, not enough to qualify for the batting crown.

In the final round of the regular season, the kid hit a mammoth home run vs L&D Amsterdam Pirates that handed the win to Neptunus. It was his sole home run this season, but the kid has some pop in his bat. He also hit one triple and four doubles and drove in fourteen runs. Collins also has some wheels as he stole twelve bases.

Next to the hoofdklasse season, 2018 has been a very successful year for him. During this year’s U18 European Championship, he hit .571, collected the most hits (twelve) and drove in the most runs (eleven).

Last year, Darryl was part of the Dutch team that won the Colt World Series.

Darryl will finish the season with Curaçao Neptunus before leaving for the US mid-October.
