Normally this blog does not pay much attention to German Baseball, there are some exceptions of course, but this time the performance of the German U-12 could not be overlooked.

The Germans, so far unbeaten, faced Croatia today. Until today, the Germans had not given up a run but today they finally gave up two. But those two runs did not really endanger today’s victory.

After three innings the score was somewhat “bearable” for the Croatians as the Germans led 16-2. But in the fourth inning, the German offense exploded and took advantage of several wild pitches and errors. The Germans collected thirteen hits and scored twenty-four runs to reach the final score of 40-2. Yes, you read it well: forty to two.

In that fourth inning, the Germans did not show any compassion as took full advantage of the lack of control of the Croatian pitching staff when they hit four singles, eight doubles and a triple and drew eight walks.

Thanks to this victory, the Germans now have a run differential of 97-2.

The German head coach spared his pitchers as he let four hurlers throw just one inning.
Winning pitcher was Finn Keuper, who pitched a perfect second, striking out three.
The best hitter for the German team was Kenny Fermin-Giere, who went 3 for 3 with two triples, a double, four RBI and four runs scored. Darrion Richards, who hit for the cycle as he went 4 for 5, had the most impact with eight runs batted in.
