Schermafbeelding 2018-05-03 om 16.16.19
Only two games today as the game between Hoofddorp Pioniers and L&D Amsterdam Pirates rained out and the one between Silicon Storks and Curaçao Neptunus didn’t take place either. De Glaskoning Twins headed to Bussum to take on HCAW and Quick Amersfoort hosted DSS.

De Glaskoning Twins  3  –  1  HCAW
Just like Thursday’s game, the home field advantage did not mean much as the visitingTwins team walked off with the victory today. Just like Thursday’s game, both teams were evenly matched but once again the sting was in the tail. For the biggest part of the game, Twins had a 1-0 lead which they extended in the eighth and the ninth.
In the third inning, De Glaskoning Twins took a 1-0 lead when Ruar Verkerk doubled to right field and drove in Brian Biezen from second base.  In the meantime Mic van de Ven pitched five solid innings in which he kept HCAW limited to only three hits. Only in the third inning, Van de Ven got into trouble with runners on the corners and one out but thanks to his defense, he pitched out of the jam. Speaking of Twins’ defense; it was pretty sloppy today as they committed four errors. Eventually, Twins scored two more runs, one in the eighth and one in the ninth. But HCAW rallied in the ninth for one run as Roelie Henrique singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch, advanced to third onHCAW a sac fly and scored on another wild pitch. But that was all HCAW was capable of.
Mic van de Ven earned the win and Kaj Timmermans took the loss.
Shogo Nakashima pitched two innings for the save, even though he surrendered that sole run to HCAW.

DSS  5  –  1  Cityside Apartments Quick Amersfoort
For six innings this was a very close game. DSS took a 1-0 lead when Junior MartinaDSS scored from third on a wild pitch. In the bottom of the sixth, Quick Amersfoort tied the game when Jelle Blaauw doubled to right center field with two outs and scored on Joran Berkhout’s single.
But one inning later, DSS broke open the game. With the bases loaded, Tommy van de Sanden singled to right field to drive in two. Tino van Erk followed with another single that drove in two more to give DSS a 5-1 lead.
Quick Amersfoort had a good shot at more runs in the eighth inning when the team loaded the bases with two outs but Bryan Engelhardt flied out to right field for the final out of the inning. Even though the outs were made, the team had fallen short but the three errors Quick Amersfoort made cost the team dearly as two of the five runs DSS scored were unearned.
Tim Halderman cruised through seven innings for the win. He gave up one run on six hits and two walks and struck out four. Jurjen van Zijl took the loss as he gave u four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks in three innings. He struck out four.
Coen Halderman was clearly the best hitter for DSS today as he went 3 for 3 with a run scored. Just like the one on Thursday, this win was much needed for DSS. Just like De Glaskoning Twins, the team is aiming for the playoffs but in the firstscore66 rounds the team had fallen back due to a bunch of injuries.
