Shawn Zarraga has to look for a new club. At the end of Spring Training, on March 30, the Dodgers acquired catcher Cael Brockmeyer, who was released by the Cubs. In order to make room for him, the club from Los Angeles released Shawn Zarraga.

After the 29-year old Aruban signed a minor league contract for his second stint with the Dodgers’ organization last year, he played only six games with the Tulsa Drillers (AA, Texas League). In those six games, he batted .278 with three doubles and a home run.
At the end of the 2017 season, Shawn became a free agent once again. But on January 17, the Dodgers signed him to another minor league contract with an invitation to spring training as he was placed on the roster of the OKC Dodgers. After two previous Spring Training invitations by the Dodgers in 2015 and 2016, when he hit very well, he did not impress the Dodgers this year as he hit .143 (1 for 7).
Last season, Shawn first signed a deal with the independent Cleburne Railroaders of the American Association, but after 41 games as a catcher, first baseman and DH with the Railroaders, he was cut lose already, even though he hit .272.
Shawn was still part of team Kingdom of the Netherlands during the 2017 World Baseball Classic as he hit .273 in three games and eleven at bats.
It is unclear if Shawn wants to continue playing baseball. If so, it will be very likely he will sign with another Indy team.
