Biscuits extend PDC, unveil alternate jerseys
The Montgomery Biscuits and the Tampa Bay Rays have extended their PDC through the 2020 season. The player development contract was set to expire after the 2018 season. The teams cooperate for 15 years now.
Both teams joined forces in 1997 when the Biscuits did not exist yet. The team operated under the name of Orlando Rays. The Biscuits saw the light in 2004 when the Orlando Rays were bought and moved to Montgomery, where they play in beautiful Riverfront Stadium.
Of course, the extension of the PDC comes with the exchange of several pleasantries. “The Tampa Bay Rays cherish their relationship with the Montgomery Biscuits and the City of Montgomery”, said Mitch Lukevics, Director of Minor League Operations for the Tampa Bay Rays. “We are looking forward to continuing the relationship for years to come.”
Managing owner of the Biscuits, Lou DiBella, stated: “When we took over the Montgomery Biscuits, we vowed not only to make positive changes but also to build on our existing relationships and maintain the successes we’re already enjoying. The Biscuits have had a 15-year relationship with the Rays and that relationship continues to be strong and mutually loyal. We’re thrilled to extend our Player Development Contract with the Rays and look forward to working together for many years to come.”

To celebrate the new extension, the Biscuits unveiled a powder blue alternate jersey that sports MGM on the front. MGM refers to the airport of Montgomery that is known for
that abbreviation. The script on the front of the jersey carries the Biscuits logo in the center but also one of the Rays’ alternate logos on top of the second M. With the jersey comes a powder blue alternate cap with a navy lid. On the right side of the cap, the Rays’ cap logo is embroidered.
The team announced that the jerseys will be auctioned at the end of the season, so it is likely these jerseys will be worn in 2018 only. These jerseys will be worn on Sunday home games. These jerseys and hats are that best thing that happened to the Biscuits since the team abandoned the original butter and blue caps and sleeveless jerseys, still a major mistake IMHO.
