Mister-baseball and the Mannheimer Morgen wrote about this already but in both cases, there was very little information. But now the move has been confirmed by the website of T&A San Marino and baseball.it. T&A San Marino has signed Thomas de Wolf from Belgium.
The 27-year old player from Wilrijk in Belgium played in Germany in the past five seasons. De Wolf broke into the highest Belgian league in 2006 with the Hoboken Pioneers. In the same year, he debuted with the Belgian national team, the Red Hawks.

In 2008, De Wolf made a huge step as he signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets. In 2009 and 2010 he played in the Dominican Summer League. In 2011 he was promoted to the Gulf Coast League. But in that league, his hitting did not pan out and he was released. After playing in Belgium for the 2012 season, he signed a contract with the Tübingen Hawks in the German Bundes Liga. In 2013 he moved to the Stuttgart Reds.
In 2016, Thomas started another attempt for a professional career and signed with the Evansville Otters of the American Association but after one game he was released and he returned to Germany, this time to the Mainz Athletics. In 2017 he made the move to the Mannheim Tornados and now he will make the best step of his European professional career as he will join San Marino next season.
In 2016 he helped the Mainz Athletics to win the German championship as he hit .444 with ten home runs. Even though he did not have the highest BA in the Bundesliga (.382) he led the South Division with 11 home runs, 35 RBI and 30 runs scored. Thomas helped the Tornadoes to reach the playoffs for the first time in years but the team did not survive the first round with a 1-4 record.
Thomas can also be used as a pitcher. With the Tornados, De Wolf pitched 11.1 innings in which he allowed one run and struck out fourteen.
