Lots of roster moves for HCAW

At the end of the transition period, HCAW (Honkbalclub Allen Weerbaar) from Bussum announced its roster moves for the 2018 season. There will be ten new names on the roster as a whopping fourteen left the club or hung up their spikes.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor HCAWAfter the team reached the playoffs in the hoofdklasse for the first time in twelve years, the roster has seen a mega-change. Of the fourteen players who will leave the club, seven have called it a career: Kevin Dirkssen, Sven Jongejans, Sedley Karel, Dylan Koster, Giovanni Tensen, Boyd Tuhumury and pitching coach Richard Tensen.

Rachid Engelhardt and Rowan van Hoek chose to join the ranks of Quick Amersfoort (just promoted to the hoofdklasse), Rossini Frolijk opted to play at a lower level (overgangsklasse) with RCH-Pinguïns as did Steven van Groningen, who will join the ranks Alcmaria Victrix (just promoted to the overgangsklasse) and Raoell Korstam, who will join the farm team of HCAW.
Tim Niekerk has decided to play a couple of levels lower than the hoofdklasse as he joins Zuidvogels. Jim Ploeger may be the biggest loss as he has jumped ships to join L&D Amsterdam Pirates. Last but not least, Koen Werkman. He has decided to go to play for DSS from Haarlem.

To fill the voids, HCAW has acquired the following players.
Timo van Ancum, Julian Goins, Roland Laurens, Julan Rip and Berend Ruben. All these players come from UVV that relegated to the overgangsklasse. Patrick Bok and Dennis Burgersdijk come from L&D Amsterdam Pirates. Denzell Bryson comes from Twins from Oosterhout. Denzell is attending a school in Amsterdam and because of that he has decided to join HCAW because Bussum is closer to Amsterdam than Oosterhout is.
American pitcher Chris Pfau has left Hoofddorp Pioniers to join the ranks of HCAW and Jeandro Tromp will be promoted from the farm team of HCAW.

There is still room on the roster for a pitcher and a position player. How these voids will be filled remains to be seen.
