Spring Training appearances of Dutchies

With Spring Training started, it is time to have a look at Dutchies again. The Major League players will get their shot for sure, but what about the minor league players?
Here is an overview of both the MLB and MiLB players of Aruban, Curacao and Dutch descent.

Spencer KieboomIn yesterday’s game between the Washington Nationals and the Minnesota Twins, Spencer Kieboom made his seasonal Spring Training debut. Spencer replaced catcher Jose Lobaton in the bottom of the fifth inning. In his first at bat, Spencer drew a walk.In the eighth inning, Spencer grounded out 5-3 for the final out of the inning, leaving two runners behind.

Didi Gregorius got his second start yesterday vs the Toronto Blue Jays, Didi Gregoriuswho played with a split squad. After his leadoff homerun on Friday, Didi wasn’t as successful yesterday, as he flied out to left field in the second inning and grounded out to third base in the bottom of the third. In the top of the sixth inning, Didi was replaced by Tyler Wade.

Jonathan SchoopJonathan Schoop fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates with the Baltimore Orioles. Schoop doubled in his first at bat and scored on a single by Hyun Soo Kim. Schoop went 1 for 3 and struck out once.

In the game between the Anaheim Angels and the Oakland Athletics, Andrelton SimmonsAndrelton Simmons batted leadoff. In his first at bat, Simmons lined out to second base. In his second at bat, he grounded out 5-3 on a dribbler and in his third at bat, Andrelton struck out swinging. For the change, Andrelton did not play any defense as he was listed as a DH yesterday.

Jurickson ProfarJurickson Profar and the Texas Rangers beat the Kansas City Royals 6-4 yesterday. In three plate appearances, Jurickson went 1 for 1 with an RBI, a run scored and two walks. The first walk was drawn in his first at bat after which he advanced to third base on a single by Doug Bernier. Eventually, Profar scored on a bunt single by Delino DeShields. In his second at bat, Jurickson singled to right field to drive in Luis Marte. Jurickson recorded a 4-6 force out when Paulo Orlando grounded to second baseman Doug Bernier.
