Yesterday it was Opening Day in most of the Minor Leagues. Only at A Short Season level and at Rookie level the season will start later.
How did the Dutchies do yesterday? Here is an overview.
AAA
Jurickson Profar played with the Round Rock Express (Texas Rangers affliate) @ the Iowa Cubs. The Express won the game 7-3. Jurickson went 2 for 3 with an RBI, two runs scored and two walks drawn. He was also the initiator of a 6-4 double play in the bottom of the eighth when Munenori Kawasaki lined out to Jurickson who bowled Albert Amora jr. off second base.
The Las Vegas 51s took on the Fresno Grizzlies at Cashman Field. Roger Bernadina played in left field and got one hit out of three at bats. But that sole hit was a solo homerun in the eighth inning that tied the game at four. Eventually the 51s won 5-4.
AA
Ozhaino Albies debuted at AA with the Mississippi Braves. At bat it wasn’t quite an instant success as Ozhaino went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts. At the defensive side he was part of a 4-6-3 double play.
In the same game Calten Daal debuted with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, but his debut did not last long as he was hit in the head in his first at bat. He was taken out of the game because of precautionary reasons. His European team mate, Donald Lutz from Germany, went 0 for 3 but drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. Donald struck out twice.
The Harrisburg Senators have one of the Nationals’ top prospects in their ranks. Spencer Kieboom lived up to the expectation last night as he went 3 for 5 with a double, a run scored and three runs batted in. Thanks to his contribution the Senators beat the Altoona Curve 10-6.
A Advanced
The High Desert Mavericks hosted the Inland Empire 66ers, despite the attempt of the City of Adelanto to lock them out. Juremi Profar batted sixth in the lineup as DH. He went 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. The Maverics won the game 10-5.
The Bakersfield Blaze lost a close one vs the Visalia Rawhide. Gianfranco Wawoe went 1 for 4 for the Blaze. Gianfranco was the center piece of a around-the-horn double play but also mad a throwing error.
Chadwick Tromp went 0 for 3 but drew a walk in his A Advanced debut with the Daytona Tortugas. On the defensive side, Chadwick made one throwing error and allowed two stolen bases.
