Dutchies around the world, part 2

In this week’s edition of Dutchies around the world,  we are paying attention to Kenley Jansen, Jair Jurrjens, John Polonius, Ray-Patrick Didder, Chris Pieters, Wladimir Balentien and Mike Bolsenbroek.

Kenley Jansen
So far, Kenley had four save opportunities and he did convert them all. Next to these four games, Kenley appeared in two games in a non-save situation. His most recent save was the one from last night in which he retired three consecutive Rockies, one on a ground out and two by fanning them.
His ERA stands at 3.00 so far. It was caused by two runs that he allowed on April 9 in a game vs the Rockies. But since then, Kenley did not allow a run.

Jair Jurrjens
In the past days, there was some confusion about the status of Jair. On April 17 the Dodgers moved him from the roster of their AAA franchise in the Pacific Coast League and placed him on the roster of the Ogden Raptors (their Advanced Rookie affiliation). But still, Jair was penciled in for his start on May 19. Just before his start, Jair was placed back on the roster of the OKC Dodgers. Unlike his previous two outings, this one wasn’t quite a success. In 4.2 innings, Jair gave up two home runs and five runs on four hits and five walks. Currently, his ERA stands at 3.78.

John Polonius
Even though started the season on the roster of the AA Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants), he hasn’t played a game for the team.  On April 6, John was sent down to the extended spring training of the Giants in Arizona.

Ray-Patrick Didder
So far Ray-Patrick is struggling at the plate. He started the season with the FloridaAfbeeldingsresultaat voor Ray Patrick Didder FireFrogs (Florida State League, A-Advanced) with a .250 batting average, but ever since his batting average hovering. On April 16, he went 3 for 5 in a game vs the St. Lucie Mets, making his batting average jump to .182. In the following two games he went 1 for 4, resulting in a batting average of .195. But last night Ray-Patrick did not manage to get a hit out of four at bats and his average dropped to .178. In the 13 games he played in the outfield, he committed two errors, resulting in a .944 fielding percentage.

Chris Pieters
Chris is also struggling at bat with the South Bend Cubs (A Full Season, Midwest League). In 42 at-bats, he collected only five hits but with a triple and a home run. His batting average stands at .119 at the moment. In twelve games, he played left field (five games), right field (six games) and first base (one game). At all three the positions he played flawless baseball so far.

Wladimir Balentien
Wladimir’s batting average currently stands at .254. But in the game on April 16 between the Yakult Swallows and the Yokohama Baystars, Wladimir went 3 for 4 with two home runs to left field and a single to center field.
But in the next few games, Wladimir hardly hit, which resulted in a drop of his batting average to 0.254 and a drop in the batting order.

Mike Bolsenbroek
Afbeeldingsresultaat voor Mike BolsenbroekAfter losing his first two starts of the season, Mike bounced back in his third start, vs the Bad Homburg Hornets. In this game, Mike lasted seven innings in which he threw 91 pitches, allowed two hits and fanned seven.
Thanks to this good outing, Mike’s ERA dropped from 7.20 to 4.24. His WHIP stands at 1.294 right now.
