Jonathan Willems will sign contract with Cincinnati Reds today.

It looks like it is harvest season when it comes to players from the Netherlands Antilles. Two days ago the Baltimore Orioles signed Gillian Wernet from Aruba and today it was the turn to the Cincinnati Reds.

The Cincinnati Reds will sign 16-year old shortstop Jonathan Willems from Curacao, to a contract in the course of today.

Willems played for the Marchena Braves on Curacao in 2015.
He played a total of seven games in which he batted .200 in twenty at bats. His defense was rather good as he committed only one error and posted a fielding percentage of  .957.

This photo of a newspaper article about he fact that he was signed by the Reds was placed on his Facebook page.

It isn’t a coincidence that Jonathan will be signed by the Reds. His coach with the Marchena Braves is also a scout for the Reds in the Caribbean.

When there is more information about this, I will update this article.
