Biloxi, Shuckers and Yates Construction strike deal

The other day, I wrote about the ongoing road game farce of the Biloxi Shuckers.

Only a few hours later it was announced by the Mayor of Biloxi, Andrew Gilich, the he/the town of Biloxi was able to reach an agreement with the construction company that is building MGM Park.

The construction of the stadium started with a delay and even though the opening date was set on June 6, it was announced yesterday that that deadline could not be met.

But the owners of the Shuckers also put some effort into the negotiations and that resulted in the agreement that has set the opening date of MGM Park on June 6 for good.

Biloxi had agreed to a $10,000-per-game penalty for every home game missed this season. As of June 6, Biloxi will owe $250,000 in penalties, and potentially would have owed $240,000 more if the stadium didn’t open before Aug. 4, the date Yates was contracted to complete the stadium.
