After a long wait, the Black Bears finally unveil their uniform

The West Virginia Black Bears, have unveiled their new uniform today. The team in the New York-Penn League (A Short Season), that moved from Jamestown, where they played as the Jammers, will start their inaugural season in 32 days.

As expected the team colours will be white, orange and black. The alternate cap will be black with an orange lid. It will sport a head of a black bear. The home and road cap will be black with a sky blue lid, with WV on the front, outlined in sky blue and gold.
The uniforms of the club will be the all white home uni with the Black Bears script on the front. The road uniforms will be in traditonal grey.

The jerseys will sport the name West Virginia in the same lettering as the Black Bears script on the home jerseys.
As an alternate uniform the team will wear an all black jersey with Black Bears on the front. This black jersey will be worn in combination with both the white pants and the grey pants.

The club’s brass stated with the usual blahblah why they are very happy with the design; a quote from MiLB.com:

“It was important for us to establish our team identity with the state of West Virginia. Our fans have expressed their fondness of the black, gold and blue colors from the Mountaineers and the Black Bears’ parent club, the Pittsburgh Pirates. We feel that the new uniforms and on-field caps not only pay tribute to the people and heritage of the state of West Virginia but also gives the team an exciting and modern look,” said Matthew Drayer, General Manager of the West Virginia Black Bears.

Even though I like the uniforms, I must say that caps, and especially the home/road cap, are rather disappointing.
