Roster spots of Dutchies in US baseball: AA, A Advanced, A Full Season
After a bit of puzzling and research, I could trace the teams where other Dutchies in the minors will play. Still there will be some updates later this week.
AA
Christopher Garia
Chris played all of the 2014 season with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, then A advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Near the end of the season he got injured. Despite the injury the Rangers promoted him to AA Frisco RoughRiders (Texas League). After the regular season, Chris went to the instructional league in Arizona. Through the regular season he hit .284 with an on-base-percentage of .343 and a slugging percentage of .387. Center field is his natural position which you can see in his fielding percentage of .987 next to left field .964.
A Advanced
Spencer Kieboom
After a solid season with the Hagerstown Suns, Spencer was sent to the Arizona Fall League, as one of two catchers that
played lower than AA. This year, Spencer entered the top ten of Nationals’ prospects. Last season, when with the Hagerstown Suns (A Full Season, South Atlantic League) he hit a decent .309 with an on-base-percentage of .352 and a slugging percentage of .500. He posted a .997 fielding percentage and threw out 40% of the potential base stealers last year in the South Atlantic League. His performance earned him a promotion to the A Advanced Potomac Nationals (Carolina League).
John Polonius
John played for the A Full Season Augusta GreenJackets (South Atlantic League affiliate of the Giants) in 2014, where he hit .257 with a .342 on-base-percentage and a .336 slugging percentage. He played all infield position except first base. His best fielding percentage was at second base (his natural position): .986. At shortstop and at third base he sported .950 and .902 respectively. John will start the season with the San Jose Giants of the California League.
Carlton Daal
Carlton played for the Dayton Dragons (Cincinnati Reds A Full Season affiliate) in 2014. He earned a
spot in the All Star Game of the Midwest League, but he earned this because of his hitting capacities for sure. Overall he hit a decent .296 but in the last ten games of the regular season, he hit .333. But despite being a very good hitter, his defense needs to improve. Through the season Carlton committed a league leading 39 errors which led to a fielding precentage of .911.
Nevertheless he will start the season with the new Reds farm team, the Daytona Tortugas of the Florida State League (A Advanced).
A Full Season
Sicnarf Loopstok
The winner of the 2013 MiLB moniker madness, started the season at the Arizona League Indians after he struggled at bat with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers of the A Short Season New York-Penn League in 2013. In five games in the Arizona League, he hit a whopping .467 which earned him a promotion to the Lake County Captains of the Midwest League. With that team he hit .278/.366/.472. His defense as a catcher needs to improve though with a fielding percentage of .990 and throwing out only 13% of the would be base stealers.
Darren Seferina
In his first professional season, Darren played for the State College Spikes, A Short Season affiliate
of the St. Louis Cardinals. Almost all season his batting average stayed above .300 but in the final weeks of the season is slipped below that mark: .294. The 21-year old second baseman had a fielding percentage of .961. He was one of the players that carried the Spikes to the New York-Penn League’s championship series, but unfortunately he could not put up the numbers there. Nevertheless he won a championship ring in his first professional season. His performance earned him a promotion to the Peoria Chiefs (Midwest League, A Full Season).
Jiandido Tromp
The 21-year old left fielder started the 2014 campaignn with the Lakewood BlueClaws (A Full Season affiliate of the Phllies). But after he struggled at bat, he was sent down to the Williamsport CrossCutters of the New York-Penn League. There he recovered somewhat with a batting average of .266. Despite struggling at the plate at A Full season, he played the outfield without committing any errors. With the CrossCutters he made a few and finished the season with an overall .974 fielding percentage. According to the website of milb.com, Jiandido will start the season in Lakewood again.
