Yankees and Dutchies in Spring Training, Tuesday March 24
Didi Gregorius went 1 for 3 with a double that scored Ramon Flores in New York’s 9-8 win over the Tigers.
Esmil Rogers pitched a tough game in which he allowed five runs (one earned) on five hits in only three innings. Trailing 8-2 after the top of the seventh, the Yankees scored two in the bottom of that inning and four in the bottom of the ninth. Ramon Flores hit a towering three run homer in the ninth for the walk off win.
Xander Bogaerts and the Red Sox fell 9-4 to the Marlins. Xander went 0 for 2 but he drew a lead off walk in the fourth inning. The Red Sox had a big inning in the third when they scored four and took a three run lead. But eventually the Marlins flexed their muscles in the eighth inning when they scored eight runs for the 9-4 win.
The Braves lost to the Phillies but Andrelton Simmons played a good game. He hit a towering two run homer in the bottom of the seventh.
In a 4-3 loss to the Astros, Mets’ Matt den Dekker went 0 for 3 with a strikeout.
